A month and counting
Today when I wore my working shoes to work, I realize they don't hurt my feet anymore. Like any other new shoe, it is tamed and adjusted to my feet. The first week when I went to work, my feet hurt so much, I had to put some muscle relaxant on it. 2nd day, I straight away change to a more comfortable lady shoes with a bit of heel. Unfortunately it didn't help much at all. I loath going to work in my new shoes then. My feet wept with joy on Fridays where I get to wear my sneakers to work. Dress down Fridays. Now it's ok already, I can walk comfortably.
I haven't took public transport to work since 3 years ago. My first day to work, I need to take the MRT. It was so packed that I felt I there was no space. I stood there waiting for the train that has a some space to squeeze in a person. Guess what, there is no such train. I realize that after standing there for 5 minutes. I was late to work on my first day by 10 minutes or so. 2nd day I woke up earlier and reach the MRT station earlier, the early bird get to sit the train or so I thought. Guess what, no matter how early you are, there is still no room for you. After 1 week of trying to find the right time, I had enough. The 2nd week, when the train came, I just pretend I didn't see all the people and stepped in. Viola, I got space.
My colleagues said I am friendly and quiet. When I told my friends in kampong, they laughed until they almost died. Hey, I am quiet though not many might know this side of me. I also found out, all my new members are also new to the department. My boss has worked here for more than 10 years and he came from programming back ground. I am in a completely new department because according to the big boss, we just took over Aug 2008. I am not sure how I felt about it. Sure good that we are all on equal footing. Bad, because there is no reference so to speak. I am now in an environment where users and IT are more superior than BA. If that don't beat it all...
On the side note, landlady informed me room next door already rented. 19 year old chinese girl fresh out of school looking for further study. The mum will be accompanying her for 2 days when she move in 20th November. I can't ever remembered anyone doing that for me. Landlady very happy now that I got friend. Doink! Can't wait for 20th November. Should make an interesting blog topic if nothing.
